Camalote village in the Cayo South constituency is the fastest growing village along the George Price highway. It is a place to invest. It is located about four miles from Belmopan going west towards San Ignacio. The village stretches about three miles along the highway and has beautiful riverside locations where villagers and visitors enjoy swimming and fishing. The land offers fertile soils to the grateful subsistence farmers in the area.
With a population of two thousand, five hundred and sixty six, (2566) this village is the most balanced in relation to male /female ratio. The women are just slightly ahead. It has the highest number of men per village in the constituency. Camalote is showing the highest variety of economic activity, highest number of persons with university degree, highest number of children in primary school, and the most active in sports and creative arts, in Cayo South.
The three things, which contribute, to the growth of this community are the construction of Belmopan, the availability of land, and the arrival of Central American emigrants in the 70’s. The Mestizo makes up the majority of its population.
